Employment and Work Experience

2016 – 2017– Front End Web Developer – Prototype Creative

At Prototype Creative, I am responsible for creating, maintaining and improving responsive website front-ends for multi-million-pound organisations. As well as front-end HTML, CSS and Javascript, I also use PHP, Twig and React to create more interactive user experiences. Various projects at Prototype have allowed me to become familiar with web technologies such as Sass/SCSS/Less, Twig, jQuery and PHP; as well as Content Management Systems like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, OpenCart and Prototype Creative’s own Symfony based ProtoCMS. I use Git for version control, and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator to develop designs into user-friendly pixel perfect websites and email templates.

2013 – Present – Freelance Web Developer

When I’m not at work, I brainstorm and develop websites for friends and family. I started seriously working in Web Design & Development by learning HTML and CSS, over 3 years my skillset has expanded into WordPress development and more frontend technologies like jQuery, SASS and Bootstrap. Completed projects include a portfolio for a Media Studies graduate and a website for the Barnsley Asperger’s Parent Support Service. Current projects underway are a portfolio site for an Arts graduate and a website for an up and coming local band.

2012 – 2016 – IT Support – Senior Architectural Systems

Working as part of the IT department at Senior Architectural Systems, my base role is to support a workforce of over 100 employees and their varying computer configurations (Windows XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003/R2, Server 2008/R2, Blackberry, Android, iOS) across the company’s four branches, liaising with other companies to ensure efficient, straightforward communication. I often volunteer myself for other more challenging projects such as workstation/server hardware and software repairs, printer maintenance, application development, web and graphic design and setup and representation of the business through social media.

2011 – Technical Support – Clearbase Solutions

Working independently my role at Clearbase Solutions was to communicate regularly with clients, offering high quality IT support covering aspects such as systems deployment, building servers, workstations, domains and networks, physically and virtually as well as implementing hypervisors, offering remote support and initiating server backups. Using the OTRS Helpdesk to drive and manage my workload as I performed face to face and telephone support.
The time I have spent at Clearbase has built upon and further developed both my people and technical skills in a commercially focused environment having to respond to and solve problems within agreed service levels.

2011 – IT Apprentice – Zenos Academy

I was employed at Zenos IT Academy in Sheffield as an IT apprentice to undergo 6 months of intensive training with the objective of gaining experience and qualifications in delivering technical support across a broad spectrum of Microsoft Technologies. The approach of the apprenticeship was to compress approximately 2 years’ commercial experience into the 6 months.
During this apprenticeship I gained knowledge and experience covering the Deployment, Configuration and Support of Windows XP and Windows 7 clients, Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2, Networks, Firewalls and office products using a variety of tools such as System Centre Configuration Manager, Remote Desktop Assistant and Windows Automated Installation Kit.
I was presented the Zenos Academy Outstanding Achievement award in recognition of both my technical and personal development throughout the apprenticeship.

HTMLtI have an excellent working knowledge of HTML5 which I can write comfortably to standard compliance.
CSSI am able to write CSS3 with or without pre-processors such as Sass or LESS to create crisp, responsive & good-looking layouts. I also have experience using Bootstrap and other front-end frameworks.
JavaScript / jQueryI have a good understanding of JavaScript and jQuery. I can confidently use these to create more engaging and interactive websites.
CMSI’m very comfortable working with Content Management Systems like WordPress, OpenCart, Grav and Drupal to create custom themes and userfriendly web experiences.
